Unique, handcrafted jewelry that tells a story.

My fascination is in blending old with new; redefining vintage elements into a modern design. I am on a constant search for vintage objects to fall in love with, always looking for things that possess unique qualities. I love experimenting with different combinations of materials including paper, wire, glass, fabric, paint, metal and upcycled materials.

One of my pieces was selected to be included in American Artwork (to be published October 2020), my fifth time being selected. I feel very honored to be part of such a great collection of artists.

This work is entitled "Queen Bee", which represents the life of my Aunt Ann. I've been working on this piece for years. It's taken on many revisions. I've really struggled with capturing her essence in one necklace. If you knew Aunt Ann, you would understand. ha ha. I intially had lots of brown strands of beads hanging around it, it felt heavy. I had horses in mind, which she loved -- think Kentucky Derby. She came to visit last summer and I showed it to her. She barely raised an eyebrow and said, "I'll have to give you some of my things to make it more like me." She was so sassy and unique. Aunt Ann passed away last winter. After she passed, I came back to Maine and took apart the mess I made. I kept the horse shoe and started over. Her father always loomed dark over her. He was once painted by a famous artist, which I included this artwork, hidden inside. Her mother was a florist, owned many greenhouses and a flower store, a force of nature, just like Aunt Ann. Instead of a diamond ring when she got married, Aunt Ann chose an emerald. She loved the color green, which suited her as she she loved gardening, bees and the outdoors. She truly was the Queen Bee.

About Me

Jewelry has always been my joy and passion. My grandmother had the most fabulous collection of jewelry. Often I would look inside her jewelry box, pulling each drawer open and examining everything. Every piece she owned had a story. I loved hearing each one, over and over again. It was better than any book I had ever read. I am an artist, jewelry maker and beekeeper. I live in the country on a beautiful lake in Northern Maine. Thank you for visiting my page. Cheers, Monique
